    Jezebel (1938)

    Dir. William Wyler
You know that I never cared for Bette Davis until recently. Every week, I am entertained by this very talented actress. This past week I wanted to watch Jezebel, the story of a Southern belle, whose behavior is scandalous for the time and treats her men with an arrogance and spoiled nature that Bette so adeptly portrays. Sometimes you can push too hard and the prize is not worth the challenge and abuse. Davis won the Academy Award for her performance alongside actors, Henry Fonda, George Brent, Donald Crisp, and Margaret Lindsay. The music is by Max Steiner and the direction is by the master, William Wyler.
