A restaurant, bar and “day club” that drifts around Mission Bay is coming this fall in the form of a three-level boat replete with an open mid-deck, cabanas, flat screen TVs, and two bars and dining areas.
The 149-passenger vessel is the brainchild of Brad Hunter, a local entrepreneur who is launching the $5 million project through his company, AQUAlounge. It is being built by Marine Group Boat Works in Chula Vista.
Once completed, locals and visitors can enjoy a variety of programs and activities ranging from live music and guest DJs to evening dinners, weekend brunches and family-friendly audio/video shows. A period will be set aside as well for those 21 years and over, from midday to early evening on Saturdays and Sundays. Hunter plans to keep fares and dining packages on par with Hornblower cruise lines.
The boat’s primary dock will be at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina, located at 1441 Quivira Road. For updates visit www.aqualounge.net
